ViacomCBS will launch its rebranded streaming service under the new Paramount+ brand in the U.S. and in Latin America on March 4, the company said on Tuesday.
The company, led by CEO Bob Bakish, will roll the streamer out to international markets in phases, with the Nordics debut set for March 25, and Australia following in mid-2021.
In Canada, the CBS All Access streaming service will be rebranded to Paramount+ on March 4 as well, and “an expanded offering will be available later in the year,” the company said.
ViacomCBS on Tuesday also set a previously mentioned investor event to discuss its streaming strategy for Feb. 24. It will also report its fourth-quarter and full-year financial results for the that day.
“The presentation will deliver a comprehensive overview of the company’s streaming strategy, including Paramount+, Pluto TV, and Showtime OTT,” it said.
ViacomCBS previously boosted its streaming subscriber forecast for 2020. The streaming strategy has been a key and growing focus for Bakish and his team even before the December 2019 closing of the recombination of CBS and Viacom.
Some on Wall Street have started to give Bakish and his team credit for how a string of smaller deals in addition to the big Viacom-CBS merger have helped sharpen the company’s focus on core content and, newer streaming businesses.
